#1 Alright guys i need a little help choosing a pickguard for my sunburst stratocaster. rIght now i have prachment just like how it came with the guitar. Even though i have always preferred tortoise shell pickguards, i always felt they didn't work with maple necks.

The almost: Strats made from about 1977 to about 1981, with the big headstock and the characteristic red layer in the sunburst, look completely wrong with anything but a 3-layer black pickguard. An original pre-CBS sunburst with a guard that has gone green is fine, but most repro mint guards.

On a rosewood my preferences in order would be; some variant of white (parchment, aged, single ply white), tortoise, and black would be last. My '01 standard probably started as white, but is more of a parchment now.
